Dan Blankenship, who has been digging for buried treasure at a 200-year-old site on Oak Island for a quarter-century, feels that he has been wronged by a salvage contract between his employer, Triton Alliance, and the Oak Island Discoveries consortium. The contract excludes Blankenship from research.

Island of tears: Grosse Ile, Que

A monument on Quebec's Grosse Ile commemorates the landing of thousands of Irish immigrants who fled famine in their homeland during the mid-1800s. In 1847, 5000 immigrants died on the island quarantine station due to the disease aboard the ships and weakened physical conditions caused by the famine.

The practice of polygamy: a Mormon colony stirs a B.C. controversy
Article Abstract:
There is a growing controversy over a sect of mormons who are practicing polygamy in the town of Bountiful, British Columbia. Authorities are reluctant to prosecute the men because of laws about freedom of religion. Some of the women been sexually assaulted.
