Kith, kin and country
Article Abstract:
An exhibition titled 'fluent' showcases the work of three aboriginal women artists whose works share a fluent visual language: Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Judy Watson and Yvonne Koomatrie. Kngwarreye's stripe paintings echo the rhythm of body paintings. Watson's sensual canvases show the influence of her ancestral landscape. Koolmatrie's sculptural weavings act as a bridge between the works of the other two artists.
