Chinese President Jiang Zemin has stated he would like to strengthen relations with the US. He contends the US-China relationship has improved since his visit to the US. US and Chinese officials have resumed dialogue about the peace and stability of Korea, easing of Asian financial crisis, and controlling tensions in South Asia.

Doha talks sail past year-end deadline
Article Abstract:
The World Trade Organization's Doha round of liberalization talks sailed past a planned end-of-2004 deadline due to bitter North-South disagreements over the issue of agriculture. The talks are postponed to December 2005 and would be held in Hong Kong.
