Landing the prize: peace activists share in the 1997 Nobel

Jody Williams won the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for her work in organizing and leading the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. The group, which was founded in 1991, has made enormous progress in changing political opinion on landmines and sponsoring an international treaty to ban their use.
