The New South Wales (NSW) police force between 1970 amd 1990 was connected with criminals. However, in 1998, the NSW police force is falling behind other states because of a clean regime run by former British bobby Peter Ryan. the NSW police force has become frightened, there are no connections between police and criminal organizations, and former police officers have either retired or left in disgrace.

Drowning by numbers

Alcohol-related deaths among Australian young adults occur more often than other substance abuse fatalities. A comprehensive study in 1992 revealed 83% of teenage deaths were due to alcohol consumption. A significant majority of these adolescents committed suicide or were injured in vehicle accidents. Researchers believe a cause of teenage substance abuse may be low self-esteem.

Murky waters

Sydney, Australia, has been going through a water contamination crisis. Over three mil people must boil drinking water because of giardia and cryptosporidium. Australian officials fear that a group of terrorists could cripple Sydney through a chemical, biological, or explosive attack on the water systems.
