Linux craze sparks high-tech brain drain
Article Abstract:
The advent of the Linux operating system will result in what can be termed as the 'Linux brain drain.' The 'open source' computing model is attracting the best and the brightest talents in the high-technology community, not only in Canada but in the entire world. The appeal of the freely available operating system is due to the perception by many that Linux is a 'cool' alternative to the dominance of Microsoft's Windows operating system.

Graham Packaging Company LP of York, PA, and Concord, MA-based Welch's Inc launched in Oct 1998 its high-density polyethylene blow molded container intended for frozen juice concentrates. The easy-to-open plastic cans are designed to pop in the microwave for a quick thaw. A consumer research initiated by Welch has shown that a typical family that purchases frozen juice will buy an average of 40 cans of juice annually.
