Lukewarm solution: bucked from the sheep's bacl
Article Abstract:
The wool industry in Australia has been badly affected by falling prices. Grazing land has been given to popular commodities such as grain and cotton. There has been a fall in the number of sheep. This is because of a bad combination of bad decisions. The high floor price set in the 70s drove buyers away. Despite current fall in sheep numbers, there is a wool stockpile. The decision to freeze the stockpile also sent a discouraging message.

The farmer's friend?
Article Abstract:
The National Farmers Federation (NFF) will celebrate its 20th anniversary from May 17th to 19th in Queensland, Australia. It has had much success in its lobbying efforts, vigorously pursuing a more competitive economy and reform in rural areas. However, many farmers believe NFF has turned its back on protection, regulation, and price fixing.
