Lumber prices seen declining

British Columbia has been badly damaged by forest fires resulting in a drop in lumber prices as supply shortages persist. Lumber trading firms predicted that prices would drop under $300 per 1,000 board feet due to overabundance caused by high U.S. tariffs.

Article Abstract:
A new proposal that may end the lengthy softwood lumber trade dispute between the United States and Canada is getting widespread support. But the proposal would require the Canadian lumber industry to adopt an old system of quotas for lumber exports.
