John Bayne Maclean and RS McLaughlin were enterprising Canadian businessmen in 1905. Maclean founded 'The Business Magazine,' the precursor to 'Maclean's.' McLaughlin, in an excerpt from the Oct 1, 1954, issue of 'Maclean's' describes how his McLaughlin Carriage Co began producing cars.
