Agra contemplates acquisition of European engineering firm
Article Abstract:
Agra Inc., a Calgary, Canada-based engineering and construction company, is planning to acquire an unnamed European petrochemical engineering firm that makes C$200 million in revenues yearly. David Paterson, Agra's vice president for corporate affairs and investor relations, would not name the company or the price Agra is willing to pay. Paterson only said that the planned acquisition is one of Agra's largest ever. A final decision on the matter is expected within a number of weeks, according to Agra officials. Paterson said that Agra is ready to use different methods to acquire the engineering company if the transaction goes through.

Alberta to allow power exports to Sask. despite shortages
Article Abstract:
TransAlta Utilities Corp. received permission from the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board in Alberta to construct a transmission line that will transfer electricity from power lines in Alberta to Saskatchewan. However, Energy Minister Stephen West needs to clarify whether this venture will affect the power supply of Alberta amidst recent warnings of electricity rationing after recently suffering from two significant power outages in the last six months. The Alberta administration is also attempting to convert the province in the most deregulated Canadian electricity market.
