Gates assures his shareholders
Article Abstract:
Microsoft CEO Bill Gates told the annual shareholders gathering he is convinced the company will emerge a victor in the antitrust fight against the Justice department and 20 states. He said there are clear attempts to uphold the interests of rivals over those of the public and the economy. Gates desisted from making public statements about the antitrust case and concentrated on making a pitch for Microsoft's technology and the firms' right to innovate. He charged government lawyers of using brief portions of e-mails to establish something false.

But Sun President Ed Zander said that the move is an opportunity to speed up the transition to the network age.
