Moderators of an uncertainty management intervention

Article Abstract:

Certain individual characteristics of African-American and White men with localized prostate cancer that moderated the effects of a psycho-educational Uncertainty Management Intervention on the outcomes of cancer knowledge and patient-provider communication is determined. It was concluded that testing for moderator effects provide important information regarding beneficiaries of interventions.

Evaluating content validity for children's self-report instruments using children as content experts

Article Abstract:

Instruments to index cognitive and emotional processes from the children's perspectives to better understand their psychological adjustment to illness are developed and evaluated. It is shown that employing children as content validity experts add a critical dimension to establishing psychometrically sound measures for studying the processes affecting the health of children and families.

Memory self-efficacy and memory performance among black and white elders

Article Abstract:

Demographics, depression, health, memory self-efficacy and meta-memory performance were studied in relation to the memory performance of African-American and European-American older adults. The findings indicate that memory self-efficacy and memory performance are related in European-American elders, but not in African-American elders.
