Music, movie industries sue popular Scour.com
Article Abstract:
The Motion Picture Assn of America (MPAA) has sued Scour.com, a Web site that allows users to locate and copy music and movies directly from other users' computers. Joining the MPAA are major film studios and music recording companies, headed by Time Warner, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal, Motown, BMG and Arista. The lawsuit accuses Scour.com of knowingly assisting users in finding and copying copyrighted music, resulting in lost income for artists but advertising revenue for Scour. Attorneys for MPAA are asking $150,000 in damages for every infringed work.

Microsoft's instant messages anger AOL
Article Abstract:
Microsoft and America Online are at odds over a new instant messaging service on the Internet. Faster than electronic mail, instant Internet messaging allows users to send text using a small on-screen window. The service has been so popular among AOL users that Microsoft has been giving out for free a software, called MSN Messenger, that can run on AOL's proprietary message systems. AOL had tried blocking MSN messages, but Microsoft had released updates twice.
