Article Abstract:
Indonesians blame President Suharto for lack of leadership which led to the devaluation of Indonesian currency. However, many Asian officials fear that the real problem could be Muslim fundamentalists who have credible propaganda on corrupt market economies, absence of spirituality in hopes of profits, and the evil western market system of exploiting Indonesians.

Hong Kong is in the midst of an economic downfall, and it must rebuild its intellectual capital and let property values fall. Many blame Tung Chee-hwa, chief executive of the Special Administrative Region, but the country's economic downfall is as a result of land restrictions, misallocation of capital, and the lack of consideration for broader community needs.

Wealth creation in modern Asia is based on imitation of Western capitalism, and the once-great Asian intellectual capital is also largely imitative rather than based on true Asian values. Asian countries should revive their creativity by investing in schools and universities and by ending their reliance on standardized university entrance examinations.
