Nora Heysen, 1911-2003
Article Abstract:
The sad demise of the first woman war artist, Nora Heysen, on December 30, 2003 at the age of 92 is presented with her friends and well-wishers reminiscing her life and work. The strong-minded woman doubted her abilities when working with her father, but she was recognized when she became the first woman to win the Archibald Prize at the young age of 27 in 1943, and she was also appointed as the official war artist during that period.
