B.C. warned to leave softwood deal alone
Article Abstract:
The softwood business of Quebec warns the British Columbian forest industry against opposing the proposed deal on softwood between the US and Canada. The association of lumber makers from Quebec cited that other Canadian provinces involved in a quota system under an international deal between the US and Canada will be affected by British Columbia's potential withdrawal from the softwood agreement between the US and Canada. A possible trade war is also feared to emerge in the eventuality that British Columbia pulls out from the international deal.
