Pass the parachutes
Article Abstract:
The economic downturn in Asia is affecting regional airlines. Profitability decreased 25% in 1997, while sales rose only 0.6%. Returns from key Asian routes are dwindling, and currency devaluations will harm future financial returns. Many airlines are seeing declining load factors after making substantial investments in fleet acquisition. Airline stock values have declined sharply.
