Institutional investors stage YBM board coup
Article Abstract:
Five members of the board of YBM Magnex International Inc. of Newton, PA, a manufacturer of industrial magnet and bicycles, have been replaced by three new directors who have been installed by YBM's institutional investors. The change in the board followed an order of the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench that restricted YBM's use of its assets. The institutions, led by Connor Clark & Lunn Investment Management Ltd. of Vancouver, Canada, hold a total of 55% stake in YBM, which is incorporated in Alberta, Canada.

Shaw shareholders endorse spinning off new firm

Shaw Communications Inc shareholders have approved the creation of Corus Entertainment Inc, which will take charge of the Calgary, Canada-based broadcaster's radio and specialty TV operations. Toronto, Canada-based Corus' holdings consist of the youth TV channel YTV, pre-schooler network Treehouse TV and country music TV channel CMT. The newly created company is eyeing radio and specialty TV business acquisition, according to Corus executive chairwoman Heather Shaw.
