New Zealand's PM Jenny Shipley survived a no-confidence motion in Feb, 1999, over a dinner she had with a chief executive of the advertising agency hired to promote the country. Her government has been hurt by scandals leading to the resignation of the Deputy Speaker and the tourism minister. Shipley, the country's first female PM, faces opposition over her budget, which is due in May, 1999.
