Pilots dispute escalates
Article Abstract:
American Airlines, the second-biggest airline in the US, has broken off negotiations with its pilots' union over a disagreement on the airline's $124 million purchase of Reno Air of Nevada. The dispute stemmed from the concern of its 9,200 pilots that they might lose their positions and other benefits to their lower-paid counterparts at Reno Air. The negotiation stoppage has forced the airline to cancel flights as pilots failed to report for work.
