A detailed survey of public opinion on Wik proposals to settle native land claims reveals a general (66%) lack of understanding of the issue. Overwhelming support (81%) was seen for farmers' rights to guarantee of leased land usage. The Howard government's 10-point Wik plan drew split support, with 30% approval, 39% disapproval, and 31% 'can't say'.
