Quebecor Inc founder Pierre Peladeau, known for his controversial views, made an all-cash bid for the Toronto Sun Publishing Corp on Aug 2, 1996, which is being sold by Rogers Communications Inc. Toronto Sun CEO Paul Godfrey launched a rival management bid. Many journalists dislike Peladeau.
