Sun Media Corp rejected Black's attempt to acquire The Financial Post in Mar 1997, but Black still harbors hopes of purchasing the business daily. Black's Hollinger Inc owns 19.9% of the paper and could force Sun to buy back 75% of the stock. Black has also threatened to form his own business daily.
