Many Canadian consumers and people working in the health foods and vitamin industries are worried that new regulations being considered by the UN organization Codex Alimentarius will limit the availability of supplements. However, this is unlikely because Canada is not bound by Codex laws.

User-friendly fat: new research aims to replace butter with a cholesterol-neutral product
Article Abstract:
A team of Harvard Medical School researchers working at Boston's Deaconess Hospital, led by Edward Mascioli, hopes to develop an edible fat that does not increase cholesterol levels. The fat differs from earlier synthetic fats, olestra and Simplesse, which are low-calorie fat substitutes.
