Article Abstract:

Trying to carry out their mission has been a frustrating experience for the 844 Canadian peacekeepers in Bosnia. Soldiers attempting to defend a strategic location near Visoko suffered dehydration, a shortage of rations and various medical problems. The spot was eventually abandoned.

Petawawa, Ontario, the home base of the 650-man Canadian Airborne Regiment, supports the elite military corps despite recent charges of misconduct. The military base is the life-blood of the town, and many townspeople feel only a few soldiers are responsible for the misdeeds.

Running out of time for justice: unable to win convictions, Ottawa tries to deport war ciminals

Article Abstract:

Canadian Justice Minister Allan Rock announced in Feb 1995, that the government will no longer pursue criminal charges against those suspected of participating in war crimes during World War II. Instead, deportation proceedings will be considered.
