Scottish bank bids for NatWest

Article Abstract:

Edinburg, Ebgland-based Bank of Scotland has offered to purchase National Westmisnter Bank PLC in a hostile bid valued at 20.85 billion sterling pounds, or $50.39 billion. If approved, the deal would form a merged entity that would replace Barclays Bank PLC as the third-largest bank in Britain in terms of value. National Westminster immediately rejected the offer, saying the offer does not reflect the actual value of the NatWest franchise and NatWest Group.
