Article Abstract:
Researchers in Australia and the US are analyzing the genetic components of malaria in an effort to find better treatments. The genetics research focuses on Plasmodium, which has been found to have evolved from a single-celled red alga. The analysis promises much as antimalarial drugs of the future can disrupt the Plasmodium without side affects for people.
