What people see, or what their conscious minds think they see, can be very ambiguous. Some observers argue that what people see is the result of inherited neural apparatus that has developed over time and of the way its operation is influenced by the environment in which people grow up. The tendency to see different realities is a key force moulding who people believe they are.
