Should statistical sampling be used for census 2000?
Article Abstract:
Census 2000 has generated much controversy in the US Congress. Some lawmakers argue that to keep costs under control and get an accurate and complete count, the Census Bureau should use statistical sampling to improve upon the current direct counting. However, other lawmakers oppose such an idea on the basis that the 1990 census was the most accurate in the US history. They further argue that statistical sampling is untested, thus creating a situation where some communities will be over-represented while most will suffer from underrepresentation.

Should Britain join the European Monetary Union?
Article Abstract:
Supporting the proposal that Britain should join the European Monetary Union are claims that membership would lay the foundation for lower interest rates, encourage more investment by cutting currency turmoil, and sustain growth and job creation. On the other hand, however, a reason against joining is that Britain's economy is different than the rest of the European countries and any fluctuation in interest rates could result in economic devastation.
