Highways may become more dangerous if the trucking industry succeeds in making changes to the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991, which expires Sep 30, 1997. Large trucks account for 21% of deaths in multi-vehicle crashes, even though they comprise 3% of registered vehicles.
