Should the legal drinking age be lowered to 18 or 19?
Article Abstract:
Allowing 18 or 19 year-olds to drink in controlled environments such as taverns, restaurants and at school functions will not enable them to learn mature and sensible drinking behaviors; it will only expand the problems. The outcome of age 21 drinking laws in the prevention of drinking-related accidents is questionable; many say the decrease is due to education programs, seat belt and air bag usage, lower speed limits and safer automobiles. However, other promising strategies focusing on campus cultural and environmental behavioral changes are being explored.

Drinking on campus
Article Abstract:
Alcohol-related incidents on college campuses are causing school administrators to reexamine a lower drinking age and develop programs aimed at teaching students responsible behavior. Some college administrators believe a lower drinking age will help colleges monitor student drinking and promote moderate behavior. Health professionals disagree, saying young drinkers will have a greater chance of long-term alcohol problems later in life.

Child-care options
Article Abstract:
As much as 13 million children under the age of 6 receive care from someone other than their parents. Almost half of families in the US earn less than $35,000 a year, and with child care costing up to $10,000 annually, they have to balance the quality of care with cost and convenience. Those who can afford child care often worry if their child is getting enough attention and eating, sleeping, and adjusting well.
