Spitting chips
Article Abstract:
Society's elite in Western Australia banded together to protest the clearfelling of their state's old growth forests. Recent reports indicate that only 28% of 2.8 mil tons of felled trees could be used by saw mills. More than 50% of the felled trees became woodchip exports and timber waste. The timber industry will not survive such accelerated rates of destruction. More than 250 Western Australian citizens sponsored a full-page advertisement in the West Australian newspaper to protest the clearcutting.

Experiencing eternity in Clayoquot Sound
Article Abstract:
The lumber industry continues to get away with clear-cutting old-growth forests because too few people know what it is doing. In addition to killing the trees, clear-cutting destroys the environment that generates new trees.
