The Association of South-East Asian Nations is falling apart as Indonesia and Malaysia blame their economic difficulties on Singapore. Indonesia President Habibie and Malaysian President Mahathir Mohammad argue that Singapore does everything at the expense of its neighbors. Consequently, Australian government is facing a region in conflict, which has exposed racial tensions and economic jealousies.

The author goes fishing with his friends to a spot that they have been visiting for more than 20 years. Although he does not like to fish, he spends most of his time around his friends painting what they catch or his surroundings. On his first day, he painted a watercolour of the early morning.
