The battle at UBC

The University of British Columbia (UBC) has stopped admitting new political science graduate students, but UBC's faculty voted against the administrators' decision in a non-binding vote. The decision to suspend admissions came in response to a sexual and racial harassment investigation.

A fight to save the children: activists battle the sexual exploitation of kids

The first World Congress Against the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, in Stockholm, Sweden in Sept 1996, has been spurred by the international efforts of End Child Prostitution in Asian Tourism. Activists blame growing poverty in developing nations for much of the problem.

Novelist Margaret Sweatman and composer Glenn Buhr battled to save their home near St Norbert, Manitoba, from the approaching flood waters of the Red River. They lost the fight and evacuated the house when their dike broke. They are trying to cope with fears about the future.
