Hanson became a Canadian sports hero in 1935 when he led the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to victory over the Hamilton Tigers by a score of 18-12. It was the first time that a western team had defeated an eastern one. Hanson died on Feb 14, 1996. Sadly, there was little media coverage of his death.

Where are the colorful characters?

Hockey no longer seems to welcome eccentrics and unusual personalities like it did in the earlier years of the professional game. Hockey players today do not seem to take the same pride and enjoyment from playing the game. Several anecdotes about famous hockey players are given.

A mouse who roars, runs and shoots

Darrel, whose nickname is Mouse, took over as coach of the Toronto Argonauts in 1993. He is known for his run-and-shoot offensive strategy and has refined it through his many years of coaching. The 60-year-old coach is hoping he can lead the team to victory this year.
