People who suffer from delusions about inner or alien voices are not that far removed from most other people, as many people undergo the experience of hearing "voices" in their minds that they do not consider to represent their true selves. Academics such as G. Lynn Stephens, George Graham, and Harry Frankfurt believe that people cannot be identified with everything that occurs in their minds.
