The moral bankruptcy of America in the '90s
Article Abstract:
Two events in which witnesses looked on while brutal crimes were committed illustrate the decay of morality in the US. This carries over into politics, where anger and resentment of immigrants, welfare recipients and minorities has replaced the general caring attitude of the Franklin Roosevelt era.

Stoking the furnace of racial discord
Article Abstract:
The OJ Simpson verdict and the Million Man March have sparked much discussion about race relations in the US. Pres Clinton made an good speech about the topic by urging tolerance and communication between the races. Other politicians have not shown as much leadership on the issue.

Americans should be able to learn something about racism following the Los Angeles riots, but people would rather only look for somewhere to place blame. Racism in the US has a historical basis and it is not going to go away.
