The large-scale activism epitomised by the bearded, long-haired lefties of the seventies who debated the big subjects such as capitalism and heterosexuality and big government politics, was spurned by the members of Generation X, but it is on its way back. Protest against such issues as globalisation and corporatisation is becoming more prevalent, and is taking the form of media campaigns and Web sites.
