A brief study of the human brain reflects on how, although the neocortical area of the brain defines our humanness, the limbic area is the basis of emotions. Both these areas contrast with the third key area, the reptilian brain, which is vital for the control of bodily functions.

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the existence of a self consciousness which can be seen in babies and which is pre-conceptual and pre-linguistic. The emergence of self awareness in babies is discussed.
