The trouble with doing the 'right' thing

Laws requiring bicycle helmets and larger warnings on cigarette packages do not address the real problems of bicycle safety and that cigarettes remain cheap and easy to obtain. A plan to equip televisions with a chip to block violent or sexual programming is another useless stop gap measure.

Nineties toys in the comfortable cocoons
Article Abstract:
The governments of the US and Canada reflect only the concerns of the comfortable. Even the presidential candidates spend more time talking about leadership and dedication, and not about poverty and unemployment, the most important problems facing the countries.

The sound and fury of turning 50
Article Abstract:
The economic conditions need to be addressed by leading politicians. Many of those politicians were activists for social change in the 1960s. They should revive their idealism to help facilitate economic changes that will benefit young adults in the 1990s.
