'U.S. News' replacing editor
Article Abstract:
U.S. News & World Report's James Fallows, editor of the publication for less than two years, will be replaced by Stephen Smith, editor of National Journal, a Washington, DC, weekly publication on government and politics. Fallows' ouster was a decision of Harold Evans, vice chairman and editorial director of publications owned by Mort Zuckerman. Columnist Tim Noah said Zuckerman was displeased with Fallows' performance as editor of the publication. Fallows, an author and commentator, favored analytical stories over investigative news.

Firms tap employees for cost-saving suggestions
Article Abstract:
Firms are now more apt to seek their employees for cost-saving suggestions because they provide better and realistic ideas. It is also partly dictated by their desire to move away from dictatorial management and to foster a more participative style of management with their employees. Moreover, employee suggestions in the form of an e-mail or a written note, leave firms without the need for costly business consultants.
