Article Abstract:
Because of the growing tendency of high school students in Australia to drop out of school before they graduate, strategies are being developed to encourage non-academic students to stay in schools that are focused on academic achievement. The Plan-It Youth mentoring program in New South Wales helps students for whom the choice to leave school early is too high a risk for future unemployment, to finish at least Year 10.

Australian food safety experts are aware of political enthusiasm for protecting the food supply. The country's Food Regulation Review released a report affirming that food safety is the most important challenge for the agrifood industry. The group advocates the need for a movement toward industry self-regulation. The solution to the problem may be to give more power to the industry.
