A Maclean's/CBC Newsworld sports poll indicates that 32% of fans are less enthusiastic about baseball since the strikes of 1995, and 26% watch fewer hours of hockey since the lockout of 1994-95. However, about 75% of the fans indicate that their love of professional sports has remained the same or grown.

Thirteen countries were represented at the Apr 1995 World Curling Championship in Brandon, Manitoba. Both the women's and men's Canadian teams made it into the finals. Curling will become an official Olympic sport at the 1998 Winter Games.
