Phat Farm's founder, Russell Simmons, intends to improve his company's estimated $20 million in revenue for 1998 into $45 million in 1999. Simmons is known for building his urban-focused entertainment organization that has given birth to a number of business operations that include a record company, an advertising firm, a magazine, two television shows and Phat Farm, his clothing company. Simmons, who returns to the New York scene after two years in the movie business in Los Angeles, CA, expressed his eagerness to compete with the industry's current leaders.

WorldCom's tough sell
Article Abstract:
MCI WorldCom Corp's TV commercial featuring Michael Jordan and the Tasmanian Devil fell short of expectations, according to an Ad Track survey. Thirteen percent of the respondents stressed they liked the ad 'a lot,' but the figure fell way below the 21% Ad Track average. The MCI WorldCom ad, which was made by ad agency Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG, scored better for effectiveness as 17% of the respondents stressed the ad was very effective.
