Urban warfare
Article Abstract:
The Nov shooting of Sydney's Lakemba police station highlighted the city's long standing battle between the police and the street gangs. Violence and crime are common between Lebanese and Vietnamese gangs who are engaged in territory battles and challenging the authority of police and the community. Although the city's police officers argue they still have control over the streets, many fear they are loosing the battle because these gangs are better armed and have no respect for the law.
