Charles Darwin's theory 'The Origin of Species' of natural selection reveals that species were not created once in final form and that they change over time. His theory was based on main observations revealing that virtually all organisms produce many more offspring that survive to reproduce and that individuals of one species differ in apparently random ways.

Achievement gaps
