Origin of the species a human question
Article Abstract:
Issues discussed concern evidence of pre-human ancestor colonization of Flores Island in Indonesia over 800,000 years ago, which would support the idea that ancient hominids crossed from mainland Asia at that time. Topics addressed include language capabilities among Homo erectus, maritime ability, and the possibility of their travel to Australia.

Sacred sights
Article Abstract:
The southwestern corner of Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory is Australia's last uninhabited section with pristine wilderness. A joint exploration party found ancient aboriginal rock art and cultural sites. The earliest rock was painted 20,000 years ago when the territory was much drier and a variety of animal species lived there.
