Article Abstract:

The global internet virus, ExploreZip, which made its first appearance in Israel on Jun 6, 1999, had surprisingly little impact on the networks in Australia. It appears the damage caused by the Melissa virus resulted in heightened Australian protection in the form of anti-virus software. ExploreZip erases files and clogs e-mail services, and is the latest virus to bring the issue of computer security to the fore.
