Yahoo drops bomb with Koogle's exit

Yahoo! Inc on Mar 7, 2001 announced that Timothy Koogle is stepping down as CEO. Koogle is the top-paid CEO in 1999, with a compensation of $1.7 billion. Industry analysts see Koogle's departure as the company's desperate search for a new direction as it grapples with investors' disappointment and a stock price that fell more than 90% from its peak of $205 in 2000. Koogle, who will stay as chairman, is the fourth Yahoo official to resign from the company in February.

Buffett vs. Cohen

The US' slowing economy has changed the fortunes of Warren Buffet and Abby Joseph Cohen. Buffet is back in fashion again, with Berkshire Hathaway's shares up by 51%, while Nasdaq is down by 61%. During the bull market of the 1990s, observers say Buffet has lost his touch for ignoring tech stocks. On the other hand, Cohen who was very much in vogue during the bull run of the 1990s, now seems to have fallen out favor with Wall Street.
