Youth fitness: do young Americans get enough exercise?
Article Abstract:
Many fitness experts believe that American youths are not exercising as much as previous generations due to the increase in sedentary activities, such as computers and television; reduced physical education (PE) budgets; and the frequency of families where all the parents work. This trend is being combated through including fun activities in high school PE, such as roller hockey and self-defense; and by emphasizing nutrition. The way physical activity is presented can encourage youths to participate and so some school districts are revising their PE curricula to increase student interest.

Early research
Article Abstract:
Alzheimer's disease has been present among human beings since the dawn of civilizations. Ancient cultures referred to it as senile dementia. It was, however, in the 19th century when the first scientific work on the illness was made. In Nov 1906, a German neuropathologist named Alois Alzheimer was able to pinpoint the exact physical elements in body tissues that characterized the disease. By so doing, Alzheimer won the ultimate honor of having the disease named after him.

Chronology
Article Abstract:
A chronology of Alzheimer's disease starting from 1900 and progressing toward the 1990s is presented. Nov 1906 is a historic date since it was at this time when German neuropathologist Alois Alzheimer identified certain aspects of the disease, a development that led to worldwide research for its cure and effective treatment. The 1990s have given rise to hypotheses that the disease may be part of a group having multiple origins.
